K-pop girl group 2NE1 has released a new song and they are to kick off their world tour in 2014.
2NE1 released the ballad “Missing You” and its music video was uploaded on YouTube on Nov. 20.
This is 2NE1′s third single released this year. They previously released “Falling in Love” and Do You Love Me.”
For the music video, 2NE1′s leader CL bared her body during a scene where she’s in a bathtub.
“So far, 2NE1 has pursued bubbly and unique personality, which is far from sex appeal. So, CL’s bold nude performance will create a bigger sensation, since it is the first-ever case where 2NE1 tries such a performance, breaking away from their past style of creating charismatic feel even with revealing outfits,” according to a post on YG Life, YG Entertainment’s blog.
YG Entertainment said, “CL, full of confidence, tried a bold nude performance in the music video of 2NE1’s new song. The scene shows a mystical atmosphere like an art photography rather than sex appeal, and external beauty and internal sorrow of a woman are mixed in the scene.”
Billboard said “Missing You” represents 2NE1′s maturation.
“It’s not the first time 2NE1′s done sad for a single but it’s certainly a standout moment as the music, vocals and visuals are convincing of the group’s maturation,” according to an article on Billboard.com.
“Missing You” has topped music charts in Korea upon its release.
With the release of “Missing You,” 2NE1 announced that they will go on a world tour starting next year.
In a video posted on YouTube, 2NE1 said they will kick off the world tour in Seoul in March. From there, the group will visit China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia.
“Apart from these (countries), where ever Black Jack fans are is a reason for us to visit. So foreign promoters, please give us a call,” said Sandara Park in the video.
She also tweeted, “2NE1 world tour 2014!!! We want more!!! We want more!!!” to suggest that more countries should be added to the world tour.
Last year, 2NE1 embarked on their “New Evolution World Tour” in South Korea, US, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore.
2NE1 will be performing “Missing You” at the 2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), which will be held today at the Asia World Expo Arena in Hong Kong.
The group is nominated for Best Female Group and Artist of the Year while CL is nominated for Best Dance Performance-Female Solo in MAMA.
